Name: Emily Breanna MacTaggarty, AKA, Ember
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: -Mostly- Heterosexual
Appearance: Appearing just as her twin does, only...decidedly female. Standing at five-foot-seven, with a very curvy build and slightly larger than average proportions. She has bright green eyes, and always appears to be smiling. She's got wavy red hair, definitely almost exactly true red, and it hangs a decent way down her back, though she will occasionally tie it back in a loose braid. She's very pale, with the slightest smattering of freckles along her cheeks and nose.
She likes practical clothing, though it's almost always somewhat girly. She doesn't really like skirts after wearing them far too often as a part of her school uniform. She has a fondness for tank tops and cargo pants, and she has a weird habit of wearing arm-length fingerless gloves in a variety of patterns.
She's a very cheerful person, always chipper and bubbly. She's also slightly ditzy, sometimes losing her train of thought mid-sentence or saying something particularly bizarre without thinking. She never means anything to sound rude or creepy, but she doesn't always think things through.
She still always acts like a girl, making happy noises and being infatuated by cute things. She loves fluffy things, and even brought her pair of cats to Rocky after being told they'd be allowed. Her favorite things are cats, baby animals, bright colors, snacks that are delicious, and her brother.

History: Ember, as she is often called by her friends because of her bright red hair, or 'Bree' by her family, has lived a relatively normal life. Lived in a rather small down in South Carolina, with her entire family; her mother, father, Elder brother Roan, her twin sister Tag, and her youngest sister, Tabitha. She actually lived there most of her life, up until she and her twin opted to attend a private high school in upstate New York.
So, she moved with Tag into his Aunt's home, and began attending the fine-arts Magnet school in Haverston. She made friends easily, and enjoyed her high school years. She was less pleased when her brother began dating someone quite older than he, but she liked Liam and never really objected to their relationship. When they moved in together, she was somewhat lonely, but happy for her twin.
And then came the really weird stuff. Tag and Liam called one day telling her they'd found some weird animals by the river, and with a long but decidedly evasive explanation they told her they were 'going away' for a while.
She never really found out where, but Tag called her back a few weeks later to tell her he was moving to somewhere in Colorado-ish, that he'd be in touch, and not to worry about anything. After hearing about the flood in Kalispell, she tried desperately to contact him, only to get another evasive answer that he was 'Just fine, and you shouldn't worry. I'm great, and Hal and I helped with the rescue. I'll call you later."
She was infuriated.
And then came the strange rumors about flying monsters in the Rockies, and all the hype that there was some secret military program going on up there. Again, Ember blew it off, assuming it was a publicity gimmick, at least until Tag called her for the first time in months. What followed was one of the most strange conversations she'd ever had, and then she found herself packing to go visit the Rockies.
Finding Out
"Tag, where the hell are you?" Ember complained, glancing at the clock on her cell. "You're laaate."
On the other end of the line, she could hear a startled grunt, and the distinctive sound of her twin brother rummaging around.
"Uh. Shit. I, uh, haven't left yet, actually. Fifteen minutes, I swear!" She heard more rustling, and rightly assumed he was searching for his shoes. In the background, beyond his apologetic babbling, she heard a much heavier noise, and a low rumbling growl. She didn't really pay much attention, but she noted it was an odd sound for an engine.
"Hal and I'll be there soon. Just hang tight, kay?" And the line went dead.
Ember sighed, rolled her eyes, and angrily snapped her phone shut. So there she was, stuck in the middle of nowhere, in a forest in the damned Rockies. A plaintive mew caught her attention, and she stuck her fingers through the bars of the cat carrier at her side.
"Don't worry...I'm sure he wouldn't abandon us..."
Her cats meowed again, much more comfortingly, and she sighed. "I'm gonna kill him..."
A few minutes later, she spotted the familiar figure of her twin jumping down off a large rock as he made his way towards her, muttering something. "Hal, damn you, couldn't have dropped me off near the goddamn PATH." He was snarling.
Ember just coughed conspicuously. "So...secret meetings with mysterious people in the middle of the woods? You joined a cult, didn't you?"
Tag looked up, startled to hear someone talking out loud but then he broke into a wide grin. He ran up and grabbed her, wrapping her in a tight hug.
"Breee! Ah, sweetie, it's so good to see you. And no, fyi, I HAVE NOT joined a cult. Well...sort of. Not really."
He stepped back, grinning like an idiot, and they laughed for a moment. Her brother looked good, happy, and he seemed a little stronger than she remembered.
"Alright, Tag, then what am I here for? You weren't very clear...you just told me I'd have a chance to impress, or something weird. You were talking about flying and something...did you join some secret militia?"
Tag made a distracted noise. "Yeah, the hatching. You didn't get that?"
"No. Have you gone crazy?"
"No. I guess I was a little unclear, huh? We were busy last time I talked to you, so I guess I didn't explain very well." He shrugged and looked entirely NOT apologetic. "Remember Tiggy? The little dragon-like critter I found? Well, it sort of involves her, but mostly Hal."
Ember crossed her arms and glared at him. "We? You're being awfully sketchy, brother mine. Who's we? This 'Hal' you're always talking about? And where are we going exactly?"
Tag grinned again, and looked exceedingly pleased with himself. "We're going to the Weyr. No, don't ask, just trust me. I'm going to introduce you to the most amazing creature I've ever met. And it will change your life."
Ember was about to snap a response when Tag pointed up. She followed the line of his arm, looking at the sky. And then it happened. There was a crack and a gush of cold wind, and a...a...a dragon, huge and beautiful in all shades of blue and teal and green, burst out of nowhere. It spiraled down to the clearing they stood in, and though Ember yelped and backed away, Tag grabbed her arm and kept her from running.
"Bree, sweetie, meet Halderoth."
The dragon landed easily, and arced it's neck down to them.
Greetings, Emily. MineK'neth has told me much of you. The voice was calm, a little masculine and a little feminie but mostly neutral, and full of gentle humor. Tag glared upwards at the use of his shortened rider's name, and muttered something nasty.
Ember squeaked. "Gnee...d-d-dragon?" She said, finally. Tag clapped her on the back.
"Like Tiggy. Only...so much more." As if by command, the little golden creature popped out of thin air, landing on Tag's shoulder and cheeping t him. Ember recognized her, noting she was much bigger than the last time they'd met.
Ember could only sputter wordlessly.
Mine, I thought you said she was familiar with what was going on. You did inform her, yes? The dragon cast a disapproving look at her brother.
"I DID tell her, but she obviously didn't believe me." Tag said, as if it were no big deal. Ember turned on him and punched him in the arm.
"Dragons, you moron! I was supposed to take it seriously?!"
Tag grumbled and rubbed his arm. "You haven't heard the rumors? Man, you're way out of touch..."
Ember sighed, and glanced at Halderoth. The dragon snorted lightly, and gave both humans a weary look. Tag laughed at something Ember apparently missed, and he just shook his head.
"You know what? It'll make more sense when we get there. Just trust me, sis. But I've asked, and you can stay with us if you want..." He said.
Unsure, Ember glanced back at the dragon. "Why?"
Tag just grinned. "You really gonna turn down a chance to bond with something as amazing as a dragon?" He said with a smile, his look softening and changing to one of pure adoration as he rubbed Halderoth's foreleg.
The look that passed between them was something so special, so deep, that Ember almost felt uncomfortable.
"Me...a dragon? You serious...?"
Tag nodded emphatically. "Dead serious! The last clutches just hatched, but there'll be more eggs along soon, I'm sure." he turned to her, and gave her a pleading look. "Well?"
But this was impossible. Dragons? Still, one look at the large blue and green dragon at her brother's side made her steel her will. She smiled, and grabbed her brother's arm.
"What are we waiting for?"
~~~
And so Halderoth returned to the Weyr with a new candidate for one of the upcoming hatchings, and Ember began her life at Rocky Weyr. It was quite the leap of faith to join her brother on the dragon's back, but she would eventually find it to be the best decision she ever made.
