Kumiko sat near the lake, quietly reading a book that was supposed to help her learn to speak English. Raynith was nearby, sleeping soundly. Kumiko had begun to notice that her beloved green's hide had a faint glow to it. With all the greens rising lately, it wasn't surprising, but Kumiko couldn't say she was looking forward to it. If anything, she was torn. She didn't want it to happen, but at the same time she wanted it over and done with.
Kumiko was out of luck.
Raynith's head suddenly rose from her claw pillow where it had been resting. Without a thought to Hers, Raynith lunges for the feeding grounds, not even bothering to fly currently.
There she quickly downed a large bull, ready to devour the sweet intestines when Kumiko realized what was happening. She had been startled at first, but the glowing of her green's hide was hard to ignore, even in the noon sunlight.
"Blood only Raynith!" she screamed.
Raynith tried to defy her rider, but Kumiko made sure she only blooded. The green was furious, but listened before moving to a second and then third kill and blooding. Afterwards she trumpeted to the males.
Come males! Green Raynith rises! Chase me!

Amy flinched as she felt a sudden surge of heat in her chest. She had been traipsing over some large rocks trying to et up to a spot above her wyer where Doctor claimed there were wild berries that looked just fantastic when she heard the shrill sound from below.
And even though she wasn't an old hand at that she knew it to be the cry of a green about to rise. "Oh noooo. Tardith..." She warned. The blue stretched out on the ledge below her had tensed up. He saw the beautifu green down in the bowl below and he wanted her. He growled quietly and got to his feet. "Amy. I will have her."
Amy groaned and scrambled back down the rocks skinning her knee as she did so. "Don't you even dare leave me here!" Already her face felt flushed and she was distracted by the distant sight of the dark haired girl by the lake. Oh. Oh dear. What about her fiancee?
As she blindly grabbed onto Tardith's neck to hitch a ride down to the bowl she already knew the answer. Flight lust didn't give a damn about your social customs.
She dropped from her dragon's neck onto the ground as he barely halted. He quickly charged to the feed pens and slayed a small ram, downing the creature's hot blood in a rush to keep pace with the radiant green. Raynith. He purred, watching her with eyes swirling with color. Just wait until she flew. None other would be able to keep him from the green.

((BZZAM. Browns are go! Skirth should be a-okay to fly by my calculations, he's at least 1.75 yrs old by now. If not I shall delete.))
Liam of Skirth Liam mostly ignored the distant cry of the green challenging her suitors. He'd freaked out the first time or two, afraid of Skirth's reactions, but so far the black dragon hadn't even noticed.
So why would this time be any different?
About the time this thought crossed his mind, he heard the now-familiar rustling scrape of hide along stone as Skirth stirred in his half of the weyr. Oh shit. LiamMine? The dragon sent muzzily, having just awoken from sleep. Liam stayed exactly as he was, hoping the question following would be innocuous.
"Yes?" Raynith calls. I must, mine! I must answer her!
Liam groaned softly as something horribly hot and decidedly sexual began to creep into his mind. "Damn...damn, damn, damn! Skirth, please!" I cannot resist her, mine. Come, I will take you to hers.
Liam tried to resist, tried damn hard. But the weyr was too confining, and Skirth's lust-tinted eyes watched him with absolute certainty that his human partner was going to sucumb. And eventually, he did. Liam stumbled toward the huge black dragon, and within moments, they were in flight. The light reflected off the barely visible mahogany tones in the brown's hide, and they dove toward the feeding grounds.
Liam dropped to the ground by the fence, knees shaking as he tried his hardest to resist. It hadn't been this difficult when Spock had flown...why would it now? Skirth didn't even verbalize his response, just sent a wave of emotion over the much deeper bond they shared, and snapped a cow's neck with one bite. He eyed the lone blue nearby as he fed on the rich blood, snarling under his breath. A second cow went just as easily to his teeth, and he blooded that kill as well, biding his time.
Beautiful Raynith. Skirth answers your call!
******************* Arianne and Dracouth
Ari had been sitting on a large rock along a path leading to...somewhere. She didn't know where exactly. She was lost again. But she found herself enjoying the scenery, and she'd stopped to strip off her jacket to just her corset, laying in the sun despite the chill in the air. She had been hot...
Just when she had been about to beg Dracouth to tell her where she had ended up, she felt a peculiar tingle down her spine. She sat up, rubbing the back of her neck, and glancing around suspiciously. She'd heard something not too long ago, what had that been...?
Dracouth's cry of masculine bravado cuaght her attention though. Shards! She should have known. The green. The one belonging to that dark-haired Earth girl, the one who liked all the odd clothes. She'd been slightly glowy lately...damn. She leapt to her feet and broke into a dead run. "Dracooooouuuuuhth!"
Dracouth leapt from his weyr, snapping his huge wings open and swooping over the bowl with eyes only for the stunning green who was challenging so triumphantly. He slammed into the ground, less a landing and more of an attack on the dirt by his claws. He didn't hesistate to crush in the skull of a nearby herbeast, gorging on the blood and lunging for another. There was another on the grounds, a black dragon, one of the weyrlings. Dracouth just howled his superiority and blooded two more bulls.
This green was as stunning as any he'd ever flown. Her emerald hide caught his eye like the only light in a dark room, and he flare dhis wings, stood on his hindquarters and lashed his tail. The deep sepia stripes along his body flashed in the light, and his dark eyemask coloring reflected the deep purple of lust in his eyes. He rumbled like a great cat, daring her to refuse him.
Raynith! Ignore these fools! It is I you shall choose!

Raynith crooned as she set lust filled eyes on her suitors. Dracouth especially caught her attention. She wanted no one but the strongest to sire her chldren. Raynith spread her wings, slowly so she could drive her males wild, before taking to the noon skies in a blur of green.
Chase me! Show to me your strength! Only the strongest will claim Raynith!
Raynith bugled to them as she led them through the skies.
Kumiko watched as the riders appeared. Her body was on fire from her greens lust, and she truthfully didnt care what happened from then on. She just wanted it to end already! There were two women and one man. She recognized none of them but that didn't matter. This was Rayniths flight and therefor her choice. Kumiko was merely a bystander as she attempted to distract herself by watching her beloved in all her glowing glory.

Tardith practically quivered with anticipation as Raynith slowly spread her wings. The deep blue dragon warily eyed the stripy brown and the black dragon he didn't recognize and knew he would be hard pressed to win the green over them. Raynith cried for strength when she rocketed into the sky and he knew that he was the type more for speed than power.
So he would have to put all his efforts into this flight. Tardith sprang up immediately after her as if he were launched from a catapault. He snapped his wings out at the peak of his leap gaining altitude quickly and speeding after the object of his desires.
Below Amy shook slightly with the overwhelming emotions. She was barely holding on to her own conciousness as Tardith's desires overpowered her. Her body felt wrong without the strong wings hurtling her through the atmosphere and without a long tail to balance her. Confused she looked for the only thing she could focus on- Kumiko.
The girl was who she wanted. She moved closer but maintained a distance from the girl. Just like Tardith she knew there would be no touching the girl until Kumiko or rather Raynith decided.

Skirth and Liam
Liam shivered as the wind from Skirth's sudden rise into the air buffeted him. The black-colored dragon had little restrain, he thought, but it was Skirth's first time; he supposed, like any young male, the dragon was impatient.
Raynith! Why tempt me so, emerald beauty? He cried out, chasing after her.
Skirth put all his effort into his flight, using his powerful wings to gain height after the green. His speed didn't matter, it was sheer force of will that shot him to the skies. It was almost as if Raynith were a magnet and he a scrap of dull metal drawn to her magnetic force. Skirth bellowed a cry of longing for her, canting to one side to shadow her from the left. The blue who chased as well was little but a distraction, and so he was summarily ignored.
On the ground, Liam stayed against the fence, trying to ignore the call of the flight lust. It would hardly have been appropriate to go accost some damn girl just because of Skirth's feelings...then again, he was slowly realizing that at this point, he didn't care anymore. The dark-haired girl was to him as magnetic as Raynith to Skirth, and he knew he would only lose his inhibitions further as the flight wore on. Still, he drew even with the rider of the blue, shaking slightly in anticipation.
**************************** Dracouth and Ari
Ari stumbled and hardly felt a thing. She simply picked herself up off the ground and swore softly (the advantage of being a sailor's daughter was an incredible repertoire of curses) and kept moving. Shards, she could have had her eyes closed for all it mattered; now that Dracouth chased Raynith, she knew it would be child's play to find the green's rider. All she had to do was follow her instincts.
Dracouth let the other males gain a lead on the green, as he bided his time carefully. A rumbling purr of pleasure crept through him, and he locked his gaze on the speck of green above. He started his hunt for the beautiful female on the ground, galloping across the open bowl. He looked ridiculous, of course, but he gained enough momentum to take a flying leap onto one of the lower ledges along the bowl's walls, using that as a springboard to launch himself into the air. He knew he would have to play it careful, with an athletic blue and an over-eager brown as his competition...but then, on the other hand, age meant experience.
He let the natural currents of the air and a few carefully measured strokes of his wings carry him up and just under and behind the green. He let her know he still followed with a deep vibrato growl that resonated through his chest. His strong wings carried him easily, and he watched Raynith expectantly, letting her know he would follow her until he could fly no loger or even beyond. A careful warning snarl was directed to the other suitors, and he proudly arched his neck in defiance of them.
Raynith, glorious Raynith! These fools are young and swift, but they are no contest to my power. Trust, and see who remains after the youth tires. A hint of smug, catlike pride slipped into his mental call. It shall be I. Dracouth let his voice trail off, knowing one could never pressure a female into choosing. But it was enough that she knew he chased, that the radiant green comet he flew after would be shadowed by him so long as she willed it.
Ari breathed heavily, both from the effort of running at full speed halfway across the rather expansive bowl and from the growing heat within. Still, she could keep her wits about her well enough to realize this was a pivotal part of the flight. Dracouth's lust hadn't taken ahold of her as deeply as it would, and she was able to remember something rather important.
She didn't think Kumiko's green had risen previously.
Which was not necessarily a good thing. Already Ari could tell the girl had somewhat given up on trying to resist. Growling another curse in a manner reminiscient of her dragon's just moments ago, the red-haired young woman forced her thoughts through the haze of desire that fogged her mind. She slowed her pace, and, seeing the reluctance of the other riders, she allowed herself to give in.
Ari moved to Kumiko, just behind her, putting her hands on the girl's shoulders and soothingly whispering in her ear. "Breathe, just...breathe." She tried to be gentle, but resisting the urge to run her hands down Kumiko's back was difficult enough. The longer the flight went on, the less likely Arianne was going to be able to resist the soft, almost sweet scent of Kumiko's hair, or the gentle curve of her hip...
"Kumiko." She breathed. The girl wasn't of this location, she remembered. Somewhere where they spoke a separate language...what a way to experience your dragon's flight. "Do not be afraid."

Kumiko almost jumped out of her skin when someone touched her. She was connected with Raynith so deeply she had forgotten she was on the ground. At the same time Kumiko growled and moved out of the grasp of the woman behind her. Dracouths rider, Ari, Kumiko noticed.
"Don't touch me..." Kumiko growled, not caring if they understood her or not.
Kumiko, although already connected with Raynith, knew one thing. She needed the privacy of her weyr before this flight ended. So, with single minded determination, she set off for her weyr.
Raynith was not feeling her usual anemic symptoms. She felt good! The blood she had consumed gave her more energy than shehad ever had. And she was reveling in it.
With two beats of her wings she rose further into the sky. She did a few twists, then dove down. She pulled herself up at the last possible moment, giving a powerful downstroke with her wings, leveling out just above the surface of the lake. Her tail had taken a dunk and was now dripping water droplets in rainbow colors, a trick of the sunlight. Raynith wanted strength in the male she chose, and this was one just one test. Strong wings, more than fast movements, would keep the males from taking an unintended swim. She crooned back to her chasers, enticing them lest they should hesitate in the feat she asked of them.
Kumiko fell against the doorway of her weyr, having run the entire way there. She knew, in the back of her mind, that she would have a bruise by morning.

Tardith sounded his amusement in the chase and kept on his desire's tail. Raynith was pulling some fancy moves as she twisted and turned a few lengths beyond him- then she fell from the sky.
Tardith actually halfway overshot and snarled at himself. He turned his forward momentum into a backslanting downwards spiral after Raynith tucking his wings in tight and plummeting. He kept close to her and when she made her sudden turn above the water he was hard pressed to follow through with a similar move. It was an abrupt move that had his wingtips slash the water's surface. He leveled out just above the water with his chest getting flecked with sprays of water from his passing.

Dracouth called his response to Raynith's challenge, leveraging himself higher to get a better vantage point before he followed her steep and acrobatic dive.
Alongside him he saw the shadowy form of the younger brown, and he growled softly. Skirth responded in kind with a snarl of his own. The two dragons locked eyes, and with an unspoken challenge, they dived.
The dropped out of the sky after the resplendant green, falling like eagles and bellowing their challenge to one another and after her. They reached the last moments on their dive almost simultaneously, and they dared one another to pull out first, locked in a daredevil battle of wills.
It was Dracouth who pulled away first, realizing the impetuous foolishness of youth, and he snapped his wings out and halted himself a careful distance from the lake. The resounding snap of his wings catching the air and pulling him to a grinding halt was clearly audible, and the shockwave of his halted momentum sent sprays of water up on either side of him as he trailed the green. He roared again, as if to tell her 'Look, Raynith, see? Not only am I strong and worthy, I am wise.' Let the young ones have their fun. He thought privately. They shall wear themselves out long before I.
Skirth crowed his victory as the elder brown took the safer route, but it turned into a cry or panic and rage as he had to abruptly execute a haphazard somersault to keep himself from the water. The maneuver resulted in a loud splash of water, and his lower legs and tail were submerged, but he swiftly righted hjimself, and, with a strong downbeat of his wings and a kick of his hindlegs, he propelled himself out of the water with a triumphant cry and a wave of water in his wake.
Below, the two riders connected to the browns were having a similar battle of wills. Ari was slowly beginning to mimic her dragon's guttural snarls and heavy-handed actions, and her mind was torn from Dracouth's when she heard a sharp retort. Kumiko jerked away and ran, presumasbly toward her weyr, but Ari was still somewhat addled by the sudden lack of wings and tail that it took her a moment.
And she was far less pleased when she heard the laughter from the sharding tall brownrider she competed with.
And Liam was laughing. Although he hadn't meant it to sound smug or superior, Skirth's emotions were bleeding into his, and he was beginning to have a hard time separating himself from the dragon. And when Skirth caught the smug look Dracouth had sent him after his tumble into the water, Liam had reacted in response, smirking at Arianne when Kumiko had scolded her.
Still, though Ari attempted to give him a death glare, he just rolled his eyes and ignroed her, folding his arms behind his back and follwing after Kumiko (albeit somewhat grudgingly.) Ari swore softly and followed, and as Dracouth's eyes caught on Raynith again, her tail still wet with drops of crystal-clear lakewater, glowing like sunlight through a new leaf, her anger melted away and she became focused once more on the green's rider.

Raynith watched her suitors, interested by what she saw. But they hadnt proven themselves yet. She stayed just slightly ahead of them. This time she wanted them to volunteer to show their strength to her.
Raynith glided for the most part, conserving her energy. She was already tiring, but she would choose until one of her suitors proved himself.

[Sorry for my absence lately! And for this failpost.]
Tardith swooped past both the browns. He circled again and rolled to one side, flying alongside the others at Raynith's tail. She had slowed some but he knew better than to try to assume anything.
He arched his neck and called out to her. He roared and surged forward to keep up with her. He had to figure out a way to catch her eye or to gain her favor. She seemed to value strength and the like so it couldn't hurt him to try something like that.
He racked his brain and tried to come up with something that would impress her that nether of the browns could do. And then he thought of something perfect. With a strong cry of challenge he soared upwards and dared the others to follow.
As he reached an acceptable height he took stock of the world around him and checked to make sure he was in position. Perfect. He cried out again and dropped out of the skies to gain momentum and speed. Then as he reached closer and closer to the ground he straightened his trajectory. Now came the hard part. He tucked his wings in to his sides and threw himself into a swift corkscrew turn spiraling around and around to shoot past Raynith on one side. Then he snapped his wings open and sped forward again to take a hurried lap around the rest of the suitors eventually tightening his path and spiraling back around to take his place alongside them again.

Raynith watched the blue, Tardith. He seemed the only suitor to volunteer his abilities for her. And she was tiring even more rapidly now.
She knew she needed to choose soon. She needed to choose now. And there was only one male that had caught her attention sufficiently.
She used what little strength she had left to climb. Her wings were threatening to give up and her breath was short with the exertion. At the height of her climb she allowed her wings to fold, thusly dropping her from the sky. At the same time she called out to her winner.
Tardith, catch your Raynith!
Kumiko knew at once when Raynith had chosen. Her eyes narrowed on the blue's rider. Her hand shot out and grabbed the wrist of the blue rider, yanking her into her weyr and slamming the door in the faces of the other chasers.

[Red went poof? Again sorry for this fail.]
Tardith sped past the other males and gave each a taunting but smugly victorious look. Neither age nor size would be enough to compete with him he thought proudly. When Raynith fell from the skies he dove past her swiftly righting himself upside down to catch her before they both continued the ritual fall from the skies.
Outside Amy made a strangled noise that was part confused yelp and part an echo of Tardith's cry. Kumiko grabbed her wrist and she certainly didn't hesitate to follow the young woman into her weyr.
