Okay well, Hy'ka's from Pern, yeh? So he, in the beginning, wasn't too big on changing his outfit from the traditional Pernese tunic and pants, and flying leathers, but that's not the point. The thing is, I want a different, more Earthian appearance for him. I already have a few things in mind for how I want him to look, but what I need is a volunteer...
My idea consists of him going into town with another rider, or even weyrling, and basically taking the whole day shopping. He's not your typical male in that he hates shopping, so this wouldn't be a pain for him. Basically, some window shopping, and stopping into modern-day stores until he finds an outfit he likes.
But the catch is I want a female to go with him. Someone who wouldn't mind spending the day with the crazy Hy'ka, and someone who wouldn't mind spending most of the day shopping. You could even use it as a chance to buy your character some new clothes as well, or maybe jewelry, if you like. Or like... a pet. So yeah. A female resident from Earth would be great, because she would know the stores, which would be a big help, and she'd have to be able to put up with Hy'ka for nearly the whole day.
My thinking is that Hy'ka wants to change his appearance because he's resigned himself to the fact that he needs new clothes, and he's not about to go back to Pern anytime soon. He ropes in a female rider/weyrling/candidate to go with him, because he doesn't know Earth stores very well, and he wants someone to tell him that he looks nice... He wants to impress H'vas, so he needs someone to tell him what looks good, and possibly what H'vas would like on him.
I'm also using this time to decide on a play-by for Hy'ka, so that's another reason why I'd love to roleplay this out.
