History: Lakoasty was born between his father Lakom, who was a healer and his mother, Astyna, who was a daughter of a small Holder under Fort. He was the second child born to his parents and the only son of the four children born between Lakom and Astyna. Life was normal for a Holdbred boy like Lakoasty until his father died when he was six Years Old. Despite his young age, Lakoasty helped to take care of his younger sisters whenever they went to learn the Teaching Songs and Ballads taught by the resident Hold Harper.
Life went out in routine with his elder sister helping out their mother and him babysitting his younger sisters more often than not. He became rather used to helping out with little ones and he was branded as the nice kid next door by the Holdfolk who knew of their circumstances. Then life took an interesting twist when his mother remarried when he was 9 Years Old. However, for whatever reason unknown to Lakoasty, his stepfather despised him. He had done nothing wrong yet there was never a time that his stepfather looked at him with love or approval. His stepfather always scowled and looked angry whenever he was around.
In the time before he was sent to the Healer Hall at Fort when he was twelve years of age, his mother had borne two more sons with his stepfather. In some ways, he was happy because he got to have the opportunity to be the Healer like his father was and he was out of the hair of his stepfather. And in some ways, he was sad that he no longer got to spend time with his mother and sisters. But his studies to become a Healer preoccupied him and he didn't miss them too much that he would get too homesick.
He was 16 Years Old when he was sent to apprentice to a particular High Reaches Healer. Life was looking good as he learned all that he could from his mentor until Fate threw a rock in the pond and he was Searched at the age of 17. He Stood for two years at the High Reaches Weyr but he failed to Impress in every single Hatching. When he was 19 Years Old, he and some other Pernese Candidates were sent to Rocky Weyr on Earth to try and bring a healthy dragonet back to Pern.
Although he Impressed at Rocky Weyr on the week of April 10, 2011, to Green Taspoloth who was in perfect health and did not have a defect, Taspoloth however did not want to leave Rocky Weyr and adamantly refused to return to Pern. What could Lakoasty... that is, La'as do but follow what his dragon wanted so he stayed on Earth with Green Taspoloth. Months passed as he and Taspoloth learned what few Weyrling Lessons were being taught by the Weyrlingmaster. Then, sometime in the week of September 11, 2011, La'as Impressed bronze Wherry during Gold Reyna's second flit hatching.
